The Meissen Porcelain Manufactory.
While you are in Germany, take time to visit the largest
collection of Meissen Porcelain in the world - a collection
of over 22,000 items. A portion of the collection -
approximately 3,000 exhibits which are revised annually -
has been displayed for the public since 1916 in beautiful
exhibition rooms. Tour each room to provide yourself with
the history of these works of art from 1710 to the present.
While you are there, take the guided tour. This venue offers
you the opportunity to learn how a piece of Meissen
Porcelain is developed - from the raw materials used
to the finished product.
The work process is explained and you will be able to visit a
potter and molder, an embosser, the underglaze decorator
and the overglaze decorator to get an "up-front and personal"
view of how these beautiful works of art take shape. After the
tour, take time to visit the Meissen Store where you can
purchase your own piece of this beautiful porcelain.
The recommended time for this tour is approximately
5-6 hours. We recommend combining this tour with a tour
with a tour to Dresden since they are in close proximity.
